I don't get it
So I was excited to get the summer off and I had a bunch of stuff I wanted to get done. How is it possible that I have less time when I'm not working? And I'm not sure where it goes. I'm not watching more TV - I'm atually watching less, and I'm on the computer a lot less. I haven't started heavy cleaning (which I wanted to get done). I have spent more time walking and did a 5K last Saturday. I have been taking better care of my garden, and I've spent hours playing with Abbey. I think I'll just chalk this summer up to my second (or third) childhood. Maybe I'll get to it next year - lol

Monday Madness
snowed last night (yes - snowed) so I have a 2 hour delay for work today. Had a good weekend - Friday hubby and I took the granddaughter to see "Peabody and Sherman" and we all loved it. Much like the old Rocky and Bullwinkle shows, there is 2 levels of comedy - one for the kids and one for the adults - I always loved the old shows and have the set on video and yes, I still laugh at them, but just for different reasons now.

Had my first try at making hot pockets Saturday and they came out pretty good, and they're good to have in the fridge for those days when I don't feel like cooking.

Sunday was a bust, rained all day - that is until it changed to snow. I am sooooo looking forward to spring!!

sick of winter
you know, I never really liked winter, maybe when I was a kid, but this winter is exceptional and I really can't wait until it's over. I had 10 inches of snow in my back yard before this "Noreaster" started. It's been below freezing for about 3 weeks now. I know it's winter, but it just seems like this one is worse than ever.

I just keep telling myself "it's almost over, it's almost over"

Happy Friday
Had an interesting day. Vice principle at the school wanders into the kitchen and tells us we're gonna have a fire drill. She notices a fire alarm (you know, in case of fire pull here) and says has anyone ever pulled the alarm here? None of us have ever seen anyone pull it, so she says "let's see if it works" and pulled it - all of a sudden her mouth drops and her eyes got like saucers as she realized that ours isn't just an alarm, it's got stuff that falls from the ceiling to put out kitchen fires and sets off sprinklers - this green slime falls on the stoves and the metal curtains between the kitchen and the cafeteria start closing. My boss starts yelling "everybody out of the kitchen - NOW!!" we're all standing in the back parking lot everything in the kitchen has to get tossed - even gloves and towels and as I was leaving I see special people in uniforms coming to clean up - moral is, if you pull a fire alarm in the kitchen, there better be a fire - LMAO.

Monday madness
Well, after another week from hell at work, I had a great weekend. Saturday, daughter was taking pics of a id for his birthday at the park so the Grand daughter and I tagged along and went to play at the playground. She's very outgoing with other kids and usually finds someone to play with. There weren't many people there and I don't understand why, it was a beautiful day and we won't be getting many more like that this year. That afternoon we went to the haunted halls at the school and totally unplanned we ran into the neighbors and went thru the haunted rooms with them. The GD was thrilled since she's an only child and I'm often her playmate. It was a fund raiser(can of food for admission) and Sunday we got a call that she won one of the raffle baskets. Suday after noon was a trip to another park where she played and I actually got a little time to read. Then the pumpkin carving.

Now I have a big bowl of pumpkin seeds waiting for me to roast them later tonight.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekends as well

Come on!!
OK, so school started on Sept 9th this year - about 2 weeks later than usual. In the caf, we have a crew of 9. Two people quit over the summer, so 2 new people were hired. The one girl is great, the other had problems, missed the cleaning week totally and came in 2 days (she was late one of them) the 3rd day she had a flat tire, we all figured she'd come in when it got fixed, but no, no show. The next day she called in to quit, so they hired a sub that had been in one day. She came in Thursday and Friday. Today she called in and quit.

The job is physically demanding (which I guess might have been the problem) and it does require some math and social skills. Basically it's stuff like if you put 3 oz of meat on a sandwich, how many pounds do you need to make 50 sandwiches - (about 9 1/2).

I've been there 3 years and I'm 4th on the seniority list. I actually like the job, is there something wrong with me???

The gloomy start definitely became a beautiful day. Got a nice walk in, lots of uphill and downhill, 1/2 hour - have to remember to check the distance tomorrow with the car.

School starts tomorrow, it was delayed because of the construction, and we had to bust butt to get everything clean last week. My new schedule is 6:30 am to 1:30 pm, wonder how long it will take me to get used to that. The alarm is set, wish me luck

Can you believe I've never seen this movie until today? I took Abbey and went to the morning childrens show - they do a kids movie once a week for $1 admission (they get it back at the snack bar). It must have been a hit because they had to open a second screening room, and I have to admit I had a good time - gotta check to see what's scheduled for next week

Christmas in July
I got a phone call that I won a basket in a raffle at a local fireman's picnic. When I went to pick it up, it turned out to be a coffee basket with a couple bags of Dunkin' donuts coffee in with some mugs, etc. I love dunkin' coffee but can't justify paying twice as much for it when I like some other brands as well, but every year after Thanksgiving I buy a couple of bags when they go on sale to have around for Christmas. My son-in-law(who also loves Dunkin) and I are the only coffee drinkers in the house. When I walked in with the basket he looked at it and cried "Yay, Christmas coffee"

June 1
Wow, can't believe it's June already. Busy day, hubby bought a new (to us) motorcycle and we went for a nice ride on it. I am much higher on this bike than the last one, I can actually see over his head. I have a back rest too.

2 weeks and I'll be unemployed for the summer, yeah, I definitely like being semi retired

I'm very tired today - physically, but also I'm tired of politics, religion, and small talk. It seems like the news doesn't even wait until they have a story, they have opinions which they present as a story. I have a cousin on FB that bombards me with anti-liberal postings that drive me crazy. I'm far from being the most liberal person in the world, but he just pisses me off. I totally believe that people should be able to own guns, heck, I grew up with guns in the house, they weren't rapid fire weapons, ok, one was a pistol that my dad picked up from a dead German soldier during the war (WWII), that might have been rapid fire, never saw it fired, but I digress. But because I consider myself a liberal, he posts everything he can find from the NRA and other 2nd amendment groups. Also, while I know Obama isn't perfect, he posts every anti Obama post he can find, and lots of them are ludicrous. If I try to point out that he did get elected again, he claims that it's because of the liberal media, and election rigging, etc.

OK I fell a little better now thst I got that off my chest
